General Information :

James Madison University (JMU) School of Nursing invites applications for a Tenure Track, 10-month full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor that will begin on December 25, 2024.

The School of Nursing (SON) offers CCNE accredited Baccalaureate, Master's, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice programs. Teaching responsibilities will focus on undergraduate nursing program needs.

Three years of recent practice or teaching experience in adult health and / or community nursing is required. Experience teaching in higher education is preferred.

Additional professional or teaching experience related to the core competencies for nursing education is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Duties and responsibilities for this position include teaching, scholarship and professional, community, and / or university service.

This position requires in person teaching in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings and other teaching duties in the BSN program, primarily related to adult health and / or community nursing populations with opportunities to teach core competencies for nursing education anticipated.

Qualifications :

Qualifications for this tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor include the following : A minimum of a graduate degree in Nursing and a Doctorate in nursing or related discipline is required.

ABD candidates will be considered; degree must be in hand within six months of hire date. Teaching responsibilities will focus on undergraduate nursing program needs.

Three or more years of recent experience in practice or teaching in adult health and / or community nursing is required.

Experience teaching in higher education is preferred. Additional professional or teaching experience related to the core competencies for nursing education is desired.

Other requirements include having an unencumbered United States RN license and the eligibility for a Virginia nursing license.
