Responsibilities
Perform routine and advanced positron emission tomography / computed tomography (PET / CT) procedures for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and / or injury.
- Screen patient before the procedure for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination. Explain and prepares patients for PET / CT procedures that will be performed.
- Adjust scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate. Perform and record daily quality control procedures on specified equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation.
- Maintain compassionate patient care, comfort and safety, while ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Assess, prepare, record and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and / or state regulations and departmental policies.
- Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and / or state regulations.
- Travel to various medical facilities on a mobile route.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- One or more of the following required :
- Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education :
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree / Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
