11pm-7 : 30am / Full Time / 40 Hours

The facilities management team consists of several specialized groups to meet the needs of Emory Healthcare Facilities. We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Specialist to support and oversee equipment, patient care, and sustainability. This individual will :

  • Be skilled, trained, and certified in one of the competency areas of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam control, and related building systems and equipment.
  • Provide guidance to maintenance mechanics and assign and schedule work.
  • Interpret departmental and organizational policies and procedures for staff to ensure consistent practices.
  • Pick-up and distribute work assignments and give direction to ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Schedule, monitor, and direct workflow.
  • Observe and review work produced by staff to maintain efficiency and timely services.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and written technical documents of general machineries to locate areas of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on related equipment, buildings, and building systems to ensure safe and proper operations.
  • Shut down equipment prior to scheduled repairs if necessary.
  • Operate and maintain building equipment and systems such as vacuum systems, control air systems, building air systems, emergency generators, electrical distribution systems, liquid pumping systems, steam, air handling systems, hot / cold water systems, and natural gas and fuel oil systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with assigned equipment, systems, and buildings.
  • Operate various electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and systems to diagnose and maintain systems.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Interpret applicable regulations and establish filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Practice all applicable safety regulations and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Respond to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identify and record needs or problems and determine the best approach to resolve situations following departmental guidelines.
  • Provide training and instruction for staff; assess training needs, prepare materials, and share knowledge and expertise on an ongoing basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Associates Degree or two years experience along with certification in area of competency.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building maintenance OR 10 years of experience in one of the competency areas.
  • Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.
