Amazon Games is seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance Manager to partner with our Orange County studio in California to bring immersive and engaging gaming experiences to Amazon’s customers everywhere.

You will own end-to-end software quality for a AAA franchise; optimize QA processes to reduce risk and improve efficiency in product development, deployment and sustainment;

partner with peers to make quality practices a core part of every discipline; hire and develop great talent; and advance team capabilities in test automation, tooling and innovative QA methodologies.

The Role

The selected candidate will report into the Amazon Games QA organization, but be embedded within the Orange County, California studio.

This candidate will be responsible for leading the QA effort for current and future product development within that studio, as well as contribute to initiatives that span the QA organization.

Key job responsibilities

Focus and Deliverables

Within the first year, we expect this impactful leader to :

  • Collaborate closely with product teams and partners teams to understand a product vision and customer segment and develop appropriate test strategies
  • Provide strategic direction, effective delegation and mentorship to QA engineers, Software Development engineers and Business Intelligence engineers
  • Directly lead the testing of an existing and / or new game franchise, bringing together QA staffing from new hiring and from other existing QA projects
  • Establish and streamline an improved QA pipeline to support new and expanding game development challenges within the Orange County studio
  • Grow both Orange County and international QA teams to efficiently and confidently release higher-quality products for our customers
  • Evaluate and communicate the launch readiness of game milestones and upcoming releases to key stakeholders and executive leaders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
  • 3+ years of Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
  • 3+ years of quality assurance teams management experience
  • 5+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
  • Experience identifying and reviewing test plans, test cases and testing results with a strong QA background
  • Experience preparing quality metrics and effectively engaging with stakeholders to set and drive quality goals
  • Experience managing manual testers
  • Experience managing automation testers
  • Experience testing web technologies and back-end services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for and knowledge of video games and digital entertainment
  • Strong people management skills, with proven ability to hire and grow talented tools developers, data analysts and test engineers
  • Experience working with development and business teams to understand product requirements, communicate challenges and provide solutions
  • Experience driving technological and process innovation - modernizing the craft of Games Quality Assurance is a core goal of our organization
  • Proven success communicating cross-functionally and with management on difficult topics, and steadfastly advocating for customers
  • Experience with games as a service (GaaS) or live games (e.g. ensuring highly-reliable online features, supporting ongoing updates)
  • Experience with Development Operations, and contributing to infrastructure and tools design, continuous integration and risk mitigation strategies
