Position Summary
A Fuels System Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the aircraft fuel integral tanks, fuel bladders, fuel pumps, fuel quantity transmitter components, fuel lines, fuel transfer manifolds and fuel system components installed within the Aerial Refueling Transfer Boom and MPRS Pod systems.
These individuals play a vital role in ensuring the safety and airworthiness of our Boeing KC135R aircraft. They work in various settings, such as, outdoor aircraft parking ramps, maintenance & repair aircraft hangars, and repair shops.
Aircraft mechanics adhere to strict regulatory guidelines set by aviation authorities, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
They must undergo comprehensive training and obtain the necessary certifications to demonstrate their competency in specific aircraft types or systems.
Their meticulous work and attention to detail contribute to the overall safety and reliability of aircraft, playing a critical role in the aviation industry.
Essential Functions Statements
Inspect the aerial refueling system as well as the fuel manifold system of the Boeing KC-135 to identify discrepancies and implement solutions in accordance with technical data.
Maintain and repair fuel systems of the KC-135 to include :
- Hydraulics System Replace hydraulicly driven fuel components.
- Electrics Use wiring schematics, trace ground & power supply faults, and rectify component failures within the aircraft fuel system.
- Minor Fuel system repair, replace seals, in tank fuel probes and fuel system components.
- MPRS, (Multi Point Refueling System), experience is a plus, but not essential.
- CFM56 2-B jet engine experience is a plus, but not essential.
Perform daily aircraft inspections, launch / recover, refuel / defuel, debrief aircrew, assist with aircraft jacking & towing.
Operate and maintain all fuel system specific GSE, (Ground Support Equipment).
Follow all safety directives, maintenance procedures, and FAA regulations.
Remain current on all required training and certifications
Accurately record aircraft maintenance in the automated maintenance records system.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role has supervisory responsibilities. Primarily ensuring the fuel maintenance procedures are carried out safely.
Work Environment
This job operates within flight line maintenance parameters. This role is routinely carried outdoors and uses standard equipment such as electronic and pneumatic test equipment, hand tools, ground power units for aircraft, integrated maintenance information systems, lifts, metal cutters, power drills, rivet tools, portable computing devices, and individual protective equipment such as headsets / ear plugs, and safety glasses / googles.
Physical Demands
This is a largely physical role; however, some physical abilities may be required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 a.
m. to 4 : 00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.
Non-exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager. Part-time non-exempt employees must obtain approval from the department manager before working over 29 hours per week.
Frequent short notice changes to attendance schedules and shifts occur here at home stations and at temporary duty locations.
Work schedules are driven by mission requirements. There is significant travel required to successfully carry out assigned maintenance tasks and air operations.

Travel
- Travel requirements are : Up to 30% away from home.
- Must have the availability to travel 15,30,60 and 90 days at a time in support of mission requirements.
- Must be able to obtain e-visas to complete assigned overseas business travel.
Required Education : Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience :
5+ years of hands-on heavy or fighter aircraft maintenance experience, working with government contractors, the Military, or commercial airlines.
Be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance.
Computer Skills :
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically Word and Excel.
Certificates and Licenses :
FAA A&P Certificate is required.
Maintain a state issued driver's license
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certificates : Education : Baccalaureate Degree in Science or Mathematics
FAA IA Certificate.
Experience :
5+ years working with the Boeing KC-135 aircraft is preferred, but not essential.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications : Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no proficient oral and written English language skills.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance :
Employee must be a US citizen and maintain a current US Passport
Current Secret Security Clearance, (SSC), or the ability to obtain a (SSC) within 1 year of employment start date is required.
