Duties :
Under general supervision, the Applications Developer completes programming assignments related to the college’s enterprise applications and reporting database.
The Applications Developer is dedicated to learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists user departments in defining data requirements to meet identified information needs.
- Defines and develops detailed specifications for programming solutions to satisfy information requirements.
- Coordinates data and information requirements with other Information Technology personnel.
- Assures appropriate documentation of assigned applications systems and programs.
- Assists in providing training for user department personnel for assigned applications software.
- Provides complete process documentation to computer operations that is in compliance with production procedures and standards.
- Prepares estimates and progress reports on assigned projects indicating time expended by projects.
- Incorporates installation standards and methods into assigned projects, and designs most efficient way to complete programs within the scope of the assigned project.
- Makes modifications, corrections, and additions to existing applications as assigned.
- Provides sufficient testing and controls in programs for smooth conversions and operations.
- Prepares test data and thoroughly test-coded programs.
- Produces program specifications, coding, and documentation for programs, and changes to existing programs.
- Prepares detail flowcharts, notes for future maintenance, record layouts, and report specifications.
Education / Experience :
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field required. One to two years experience in structured analysis, programming, and design and / or one to two years’ experience in object-oriented programming such as Java, JavaScript, and Visual Basic.
Must have demonstrated analytical ability to logically approach applications.

- Knowledge of Web application development languages, such as HTML, XML, Java, and ASP.
- Database query and scripting languages as well as Crystal Reports.
- Basic knowledge of operating system concepts and operation.
- Above average communication skills.
- Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
- Knowledge of a relational database such as SQL, and Oracle.
- Knowledge of procedural and / or object-oriented programming.
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting concepts, along with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Business Objects.

General hours : Monday Friday 8 : 00 am to 5 : 15 pm
On-Site Location : Palos Hills, ILLINOIS (USA)
This not a fully remote position. Alternative work schedule / remote opportunities may be available as applicable.
On call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for emergencies
Minimum Starting Rate :
$59,180 (Min) plus exceptional benefits.
