Automotive / Heavy Duty Technician
Mechanic
A Technician has a solid understanding of laboratory operations. This person is self-motivated, can follow instructions and can complete routine assignments with minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Install and remove parts / components pertaining to medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers
- Monitor basic tests and record observations or issues.
- Operate basic lab equipment such as parts washer, power washer, truck hoist, trailer jack, in-ground scales
- Work safely in compliance with Meritor safety guidelines.
- Maintain orderly work area in accordance with Meritor standards.
Job Requirements
- Education . Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience
o Familiarity with mechanical systems and / or automotive background.
Skills
o Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft Excel / Word.
o Mechanical ability.
o Blueprint reading.
o Understanding of measurement techniques (torque wrenches, dial indicators).
o Able to communicate effectively with customers.
Other
o Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and participate in off-shift rotations.
o Possibility of 20% Travel, able to travel both domestic and international.
o Maintain attendance within corporate guidelines.
o Willingness to learn new skills
o To possess or willing to obtain a CDL.
o To possess or willing to obtain necessary hand tools to perform the at hand tasks (Standard and Metric sockets and wrenches up to 1 / 24MM, rachets, pliers, prybars, allen wrenches, screw drivers, etc.).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and push / pull 150 lbs.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Pass basic physical examination and drug screen.
