Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking an Instructional Technologist who is eager to contribute to its Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership.

The Instructional Technologist supports and consults with instructional designers and faculty in building and maintaining high quality, engaging online courses and programs.
Using tools embedded in the Canvas Learning Management System as well as multimedia production and collaboration tools, the technologist implements course designs and revisions, assists with course setup for each term, and resolves technical issues in the design, development and delivery of online courses and programs.
The technologist also helps develop resources and training for faculty and students, in addition to exploring new technologies relevant to the classroom.
The academic Instructional Technologist position is critical in supporting the design, development and delivery of innovative courses and programs necessary to bring to life high quality, differentiated offerings supporting online learning growth Initiatives and enhancing Saint Mary’s University’s regional and national presence.
Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with faculty and administrators to implement effective online pedagogies, education technologies, and methodologies within the Canvas LMS and peripheral instructional tools.
- Work closely with faculty to design, develop, and produce blended and online course content.
- Build, test, and proofread courses in the learning management system, ensuring quality and adherence to accessibility standards.
- Partner with the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) to provide training for faculty and staff in the use of educational technology tools and methods.
- Contribute ideas to the Learning Design Team to translate course design and program requirements into high-quality, engaging online courses and programs.
- Respond to Tier Two and Three instructional technology support requests, troubleshoot technical problems, and maintain up-to-date technical skills through ongoing training.
- Continuously monitor and stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in educational technology. Proactively research and evaluate new tools, methodologies, and best practices to enhance online learning experiences.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Technology.
Qualifications

Education and Experience :
- A bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, distance education, or a related field required.
- 2-3 years of experience with Learning Management Systems and other Instructional Technology learning solutions with preference for Canvas experience.
- Experience in design and delivery of distance education courses, programs and services.
- Experience developing and delivering audio / visual recording and editing.
- Experience with learning analytics and UX principles.
- Applied coursework or professional certificate in instructional design, media production, and / or educational technology is preferred.
- May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
