SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installation, preventative maintenance, and all other instrument services at Customer sites.
This also includes providing product and technical support of equipment onsite and remotely, as well as maintaining complete and accurate records for services rendered.
Travel ( 75%) is to be expected (including weekends).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs product installation and deinstallation at customer sites.
- Troubleshoots, services, repairs and provides exceptional support at customer locations as it relates to products.
- Schedules and conducts preventative maintenance (PMs) of products at customer sites as required.
- Manages and maintains stock of inventory, company equipment and documents that are necessary for servicing related activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date record log for services rendered.
- Acts as a liaison between the Company and customers on quality and performance of products.
- Demonstrates and utilizes critical thinking in assessment of performance and risks associated with installed medical devices.
- Supports Clinical Account Managers in field as needed.
- Works along-side with Manufacturing and Engineering between service calls to ensure high quality products are designed, manufactured and delivered to customers on-time.
- Maintains a high degree of quality in all work performed.
- Must demonstrate mutual respect, ongoing communication, and a positive outlook with both internal team members and customers.
- May be required to travel up to 75% of the time. Travel over weekend may be required.
- Generating and modifying service process documentation and assuring that service processes and related documentation follow established policies and procedures.
- Identifying equipment needs in the field and evaluating internal and external options for sourcing such equipment.
- If necessary, performing production activities including electrical, and mechanical assembly and testing per released manufacturing process instructions.
- Other assignments as requested.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / TRAINING and / or EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or similar disciplines
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical device field service
- Experience effectively working with medical professionals in a collaborative manner and troubleshooting / resolving technical issues is preferred.
- Experience working in a medical facility is preferred.
- Past experience and proven track record of success in working with electromedical equipment. Ability to quickly assess technical problems and find a solution or determine how to elevate it appropriately, while under pressured situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, punctual reports / information, as required and thoroughly share information with others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Must be accurate, detailed, committed to high quality standards and pro-active in finding solutions to achieve successful outcomes.
- May be required to lift / push / pull equipment not to exceed 50lbs as needed, or heavier equipment in partnership with another person.
- Must have ability to travel internationally, to Europe and other destinations.
- Must possess a passport and vaccination records to allow entry to countries and Medical institutes.
