A Medical Director at TCN is a member of the clinical leadership team whose purpose is to ensure quality care at market sites.
Provide direct client service and administrative duties in a ratio appropriate for market size with the likelihood being 50% administrative and 50% clinical.
For the purposes of this position, "Clinicians" includes Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Therapists, etc.
The Medical Director will demonstrate leadership and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Key Administrative Responsibilities :
Provide leadership for all clinicians in the market
Collaborate with Human Resources for the practice needs
Assist in the recruitment, screening and interviewing of new clinician candidates
Ensure compliance with applicable requirements, laws, and regulations to maintain the quality-of-care documentation
Ensure practice and providers remain current with mental health trends, evidence-based care and appropriate billing and coding practices.
Provide direct feedback to leadership regarding the strategic functioning of the program and work collaboratively with directors to identify / meet the program goals
Represent the medical staff at all Leadership Team meetings
Promote quality communication between therapy provider and clinician team
Help facilitate the onboarding process including coordinating training for new clinicians
Monitor applicable communication channels (e.g., Teams, Valant Secure Message, Flock) for requests for assistance from clinicians and internal communication
Review all time off requests for clinicians and approve or deny in a timely manner
Actively investigate morale among clinicians on a regular basis
Respond to day-to-day operations and issues in a supportive and directive manner
Address clinician team when corrective action is necessary in a supportive and guiding manner
Conduct clinician peer pod meetings on a regular basis
Assist in the development of new policies and procedures for clinicians, notifying and instructing them on said policies accordingly
Responsible for other tasks assigned by the Management for effective practice operations
Coordinates implementation of new programs and initiatives with the operational team
Ensure productivity of clinicians
Supervise, support and delegate tasks to the market medical resource directors
Developing new lines of business and continuing the growth of current lines of business (ie, TMS. / Spravato and soon outpatient ECT)
Risk Management : Primary and secondary prevention
Other duties as assigned
Key Clinical Responsibilities :
Provide high quality, person centered and evidenced based psychiatric care for patients
Use a variety of treatment modalities in accordance with their scope of practice, training, and expertise.
Collaborate with members of the treatment team to provide individualized care to patients with a wide variety of mental health disorders.
Protect sensitive information, comply with HIPAA at all times
Maintain composure and professionalism during stressful situations
Participate in peer supervision, training and collaboration as required by state regulations, payer contracts and company standards.
Provide psychiatric assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning, psychiatric crisis and safety evaluation, and psychiatric treatment interventions including but not limited to psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, interventional psychiatry, and psychotherapy as appropriate.
As clinically appropriate, collaborate and communicate with psychotherapists, outside providers, members of the patient's interdisciplinary care team and / or family.
Complete documentation in accordance with company standards and relevant professional guidelines.
Complete administrative paperwork required to support high quality clinical care, such as referrals, prior authorizations, and applications for services or benefits.
Utilize the electronic medical record, electronic prescribing, video telehealth platforms, medical interpreter services and other technology services provided.
While some remote work is possible, this position requires that the provider be on site in sufficient quantities as determined by the supervisor.
The provider is expected to be available to meet the needs and care preferences of the patient population, as well as meet any applicable regulatory or payer requirements for in-person care.
All remote care will only be provided when clinically appropriate for the individual patient.
Provide formal supervision, training, and mentorship to early career providers.
Demonstrate cultural competency, empathy, and respect during all therapeutic interactions with patients.

Qualifications :
Board Certification in Psychiatry
Current Virginia and / or Maryland Physician License
Current Virginia and / or Maryland Controlled Substance License
Current Drug Enforcement Agency License
Previous leadership experience

Employee's primary place of practice will be at a mutually agreed upon Columbia Associates clinic. Employee agrees to work an average of 40 per week.
You will work according to a mutually determined schedule and make your time available according to that schedule, on a consistent basis.
Employee will be expected to be in the office for an average of at least 2 days per week, with the remaining work time available to be done via telehealth from Employee's home or a private place of Employee's choosing.
