Product Director, Clinical Trials Supply Systems

R&D plays a critical role in the GSK strategy to get ahead of disease with a strong portfolio of commercially launched products in Vaccines, Specialty Biologics, Respiratory and HIV, and General Medicines.

The R&D network comprises 5 key R&D hubs and several smaller sites spanning Europe and the USA, supporting over 8000 GSK scientists and third-party suppliers.

Additionally, R&D has an exciting portfolio of new therapies in development with significant commercial launches planned over the next 5 years.

Chemistry, Manufacture and Control (CMC) is a key strategic deliverable for GSK and R&D to remove the operational bottleneck to increase the throughput of assets.

The Product Director, Clinical Trials Supply Systems will lead the delivery and implementation of an enterprise strategy to digitise Clinical Trials Supply across medicine and vaccines in R&D.

With a specific focus on modernising clinical supply chain by replacing legacy bespoke applications, enhancing clinical labelling capability, reducing material, accelerating pipeline progression, and ensuring excellent service levels through digital products to assure R&D's licence to operate.

They will also drive adoption and embedding of these technologies broadly across the clinical trial supply network, with an ultimate ambition to demonstrate process improvement to contribute to an acceleration of CMC.

The primary accountability and responsibility of the Product Director, Clinical Trials Supply Systems is to build and lead an organization responsible for enterprise solutions and data outputs, providing thought leadership for all aspects of delivery across the Clinical Trials Supply environment from elements coming out of clinical manufacture, and then onto technology transfer to our Global Supply Chain organisation.

To do this, the Product Director, Clinical Trials Supply Systems brings a distinct knowledge about the robust and highly regulated processes in clinical trial supply across all modalities with an aim to harmonise and standardise where possible, but should also bring a culture of innovation to look for opportunities for new technologies and approaches to optimise the process.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Establish and develop a team of product owners who can deliver solutions to solve business problems within the Clinical Trial Supply environment in a servant leader way.
  • Establish, prioritize, and maintain the overall Clinical Trial Supply strategy and approach in alignment, co-creation, and ongoing partnership with our key stakeholders in R&D, R&D Tech, and Supply Chain.
  • Support an organization responsible for enterprise solutions, providing thought leadership and innovation for all aspects of the solutions and data, to demonstrate a measurable improvement in the business process.
  • Work across other teams in R&D Digital Tech and the wider Tech organization to maintain excellent service levels across the Clinical Supply application landscape and ensure R&D's license to operate.

Facilitate RCA, FMCA, and other types of analysis to maintain optimal service levels and customer satisfaction.

  • Perform analysis of leading and emerging technology trends from the market to determine their impact and opportunities for the R&D Clinical Trial Supply with a focus on Digital capabilities and innovations to enable GSK's business strategy.
  • Cultivate a culture of agile mindset and product centricity to ensure delivery of the highest value items to R&D.
  • Take a Development-first mindset to continuously challenge and support the team to stay educated and relevant in the ever-changing technical environment.
  • Work with internal development teams and third partners to implement technical solutions, including contractual negotiations with our partners in procurement.

Basic Qualifications :

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals :

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other relevant experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in supply chain and logistics in an equivalent industry.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in an IT / Tech environment.
  • A working understanding of GxP and its application to software products and solutions.
  • Experience in data and analytics, and how they offer value to R&D.
  • Experience leading technology, infra, or security organizations, expertise in transformation to cloud.
  • Exceptional strategic thought partner, ability to lead in strong co-creation and collaboration with Digital and business partners across GSK.
  • Experience across multiple systems and platforms including ERP systems (e.g., SAP), RTMS (Randomised Trial Management Systems), Supply Chain Forecasting, Planning and Scheduling systems, customer-facing technologies (e.

g., Salesforce.com), and other enterprise technologies and platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and build effective teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and the ability to indirectly influence key partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, knowledge of Pharma and life sciences, and ability to stay abreast and incorporate innovative and existing technologies.
