Overview

Viterbo University is seeking a Digital & Creative Specialist to be the lead creative professional for Viterbo University's Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this position shapes the university's visual identity across print, digital, and social media. The Digital & Creative Specialist designs publications and marketing collateral, produces digital content, manages photography and videography projects, and creates compelling assets that strengthen Viterbo's brand and support enrollment goals. This role is hands-on and fast-paced. It's ideal for a creative professional who thrives on designing, producing, and innovating across multiple platforms. This is a full-time exempt position.

Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Design

  • Lead the design and production of marketing materials including brochures, viewbooks, posters, ads, presentations, and digital graphics.
  • Translate strategic goals into engaging creative deliverables that align with Viterbo's brand.
  • Manage design requests and production schedules to ensure timely delivery.

Digital & Social Media Content

  • Develop multimedia assets (graphics, short-form video, reels, motion graphics, GIFs) for social media, digital advertising, and web.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to align creative content with enrollment campaigns and social strategies.
  • Monitor digital trends and propose new content formats to boost engagement.

    • Photography & Videography

  • Plan and direct on-campus and off-campus photo and video shoots.
  • Handle editing and post-production, ensuring final outputs meet brand standards.
  • Build a library of photo and video assets for use across campaigns and platforms.

    • Brand Stewardship & Quality Control

  • Uphold Viterbo's visual identity and design standards across all media.
  • Maintain and refresh design templates, creative assets, and style guides.
  • Conduct quality checks on creative deliverables before publication.
  • Organize and manage creative assets for shared use and reuse in future projects.

    • Collaboration & Team Integration

  • Partner with Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, and academic programs to create content that showcases Viterbo's strengths.
  • Provide creative mentorship to student workers or interns.
  • Support colleagues across the Marketing and Communications team when needed.

    • Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with design, digital media, and social platform trends.
  • Evaluate creative asset performance through analytics and adjust strategies for maximum impact.
  • Recommend new tools, techniques, and approaches to elevate visual storytelling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, or related field.

    • Experience

  • Experience in creative design, digital content, or multimedia production (higher education experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple creative projects from start to finish.
  • Portfolio showcasing design, digital media, and social content.

    • Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Experience creating content for major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn).
  • Familiarity with photography, videography, and editing.
  • Experience using project management tools (e.g., Workfront, Jira, Basecamp).
  • Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) preferred.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Flexible, proactive, and eager to bring fresh ideas.
