JOB SUMMARY

Participate, with supervision, in the enhancement, development, and support of the Guidewire

InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, ContactManager, and digital portals). Assist

with the configuration and delivery of features on the Guidewire platform and integrating core insurance

systems that satisfy the provided well-defined specifications and instructions.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide basic to intermediate-level support and development for at least one Guidewire

application.

Complete development based on business requirements provided and provide effort estimates for

development assignments when requested.

  • Adhere to best practice coding techniques and standards.
  • Develop a functional understanding of the Guidewire application’s data model to utilize it for

development of configuration and integration elements.

  • Create new data model elements and extending the existing data model with new properties.
  • Assist in managing application configurations and participate in Guidewire application upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain functional specification and technical design documents.
  • Perform unit testing and resolve defects to ensure quality feature delivery, support QA testing

efforts and defect resolution.

Assist in the development of automated test cases that ensure the provided specifications are

met.

  • Participate in pair-programming with team members to accomplish project requirements.
  • Participate in peer-based code reviews, as a reviewee and reviewer.
  • Participate in daily scrums, communicating effectively with project managers, peers, and

customers.

Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative problem-solving

skills and the ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be detail oriented and work well as a team member.
  • An understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle (e.g. requirements,

analysis, design, implementation, testing and documentation) is desired.

Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department

staff members.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications

Education and / or Experience

  • An Associate’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent degree is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent degree is desired.
  • One or more years working with Gosu, Java, and / or other languages used to develop applications

is desired.

Exposure to and understanding of insurance or financial industry is desired.
