Operational Technology (OT) System Administrator
Seeking a skilled and proactive Contract OT System Administrator to support and maintain the critical infrastructure within our Operational Technology (OT) environment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Active Directory, Windows Server, and virtualized environments, as well as experience with monitoring and backup solutions.
Offshore and data center experience is highly desirable.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our OT systems and
infrastructure, managing configurations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting the overall cybersecurity posture of the OT environment.
Responsibilities
- Active Directory Administration : Manage and maintain Active Directory services, including user and group management, GPO configuration, and ADConnect for hybrid identity solutions
- Windows Server Administration : Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Windows servers within the OT environment, ensuring high availability and performance
- GPO Management : Design and implement Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to secure and standardize system configurations across the OT network
- Certificate Services : Administer and manage certificate services, including issuing, renewing, and revoking certificates for secure communication and authentication across OT systems
- DNS / DHCP Support : Configure, manage, and troubleshoot DNS and DHCP services to ensure proper network connectivity and reliable IP addressing
- Data Center Operations : Participate in data center management activities, including server deployment, monitoring, and regular maintenance.
Offshore experience with OT environments is a plus
Monitoring & Alerts : Utilize monitoring tools like SCOM, OpenManage, and Struxureware to oversee system health, uptime, and performance.
Respond to alerts and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Backup & Recovery : Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure critical data and configurations are securely backed up and available for restoration as needed SCCM Management : Manage System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for software distribution, patch management, and asset inventory within the OT environment
- Virtualization : Administer VMware environments, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of virtualized OT systems
- Cloud Integration : Support cloud-based services and infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and Office 365, to ensure seamless integration with OT operations
- Incident Response : Participate in incident response activities, helping to quickly resolve system issues while minimizing downtime
Expected Work Hours
- Hours : Monday through Thursday, 9-hour days and Friday, 4-hour day.
- Able to work remotely two days a week, based on business needs
- Travel Requirements : 5% travel to field locations in EagleFord Shale
Licenses / Certifications
Microsoft Certified : Windows Server or Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and other relevant certifications are a plus
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a system administrator, preferably within an OT or industrial environment
- Proficiency in Active Directory administration and GPO management
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and DNS / DHCP configuration
- Experience with monitoring tools like SCOM, OpenManage, and Struxureware
- Familiarity with SCCM for managing patches, software distribution, and system configurations
- Expertise in virtualization using VMware
- Knowledge of backup solutions and strategies for disaster recovery
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and ADConnect
Desired / Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with OT systems in offshore environments
- Hands-on experience with data center operations, including rack-and-stack server deployment, monitoring, and support
- Understanding of security standards relevant to OT systems, such as IEC-62443
