Job Summary

The Community Worker-Mentor Coordinator will develop programs that emphasize education and cultural growth. You will set a budget and ensure that we only offer the highest quality programs for our community.

The Community Worker-Mentor Coordinator is responsible for taking notes and maintaining records to track program progress and accomplishments and ensure timelines and deliverables are being met.

Community Worker-Mentor Coordinator should have a broad knowledge of current social justice, health and nutrition issues, specifically as they relate to youth and the communities of South Los Angeles.

Overall, Community Worker-Mentor Coordinator plans, directs, or coordinates the activities of a volunteer program for people between 16-25 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Develop programs for people between 16-25 years of age.
  • Conducts outreach to recruit youth for youth program.
  • Create schedules, timelines and detailed outlines for all youth participants.
  • Facilitates the design and implementation of the youth team projects.
  • Set budgets for each program.
  • Work with care providers, parents, and children to improve our programs.
  • Monitors volunteers' performance and provides regular feedback.
  • Maintains an up-to-date numerical count of volunteers.
  • Develops and implements volunteer recognition activities and local community outreach programs.
  • Collaborates with local community service organizations.
  • Tracks and prepares reports on volunteer programs.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of volunteers.
  • Maintains a positive work environment and sets an example of conduct and professionalism.
  • Monitors program activities; reviews, prepares and submits program reports; to any funding agencies supporting this program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Education : High School Diploma.
  • Experience : Three years of experience leading the youth (Youth program experience).
  • Must have examples of success and professional development in this area, such as certificates, acknowledgements, etc. (Or referrals from current supervisor).
  • Ability to relate to young people AND keep a professional distance is a must.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker a bonus, but not required.
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be grounded and organized and yet flexible and open to the changing demands.

  • Drive personal vehicle in and around Los Angeles County and periodically transport clients; Be able to enter various buildings that may require climbing stairs;
