Position Summary :
The Director of Quality & Patient Safety will work with the Vice President to create a clear vision of excellence in patient care delivery, and oversee a comprehensive program to improve clinical outcomes, enhance value, and minimize patient harm.
Collaborates with key stakeholders using a systems approach to ensure care that is safe, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered.
Accountable for the implementation of quality-related performance improvement, patient safety, and external regulatory agency activities for promoting optimal healthcare outcomes in accordance with the policies, procedures, mission, and strategic plan of Silver Cross Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Continually assesses all patient care related services, identifies problems and opportunities, and utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.
- Engages staff and key stakeholders in continuous improvement of systems and processes. Fosters cross functional and system wide relationships.
- Oversees all aspects of the quality program including quality measurement, external reporting, quality improvement, regulatory / accreditation compliance, and high reliability.
- Oversees the infection prevention program.
- Oversees the patient safety program including incident reporting, root cause analysis, failure mode analysis, systems design, the Leapfrog safety grade requirements, and the Patient Safety Organization (PSO).
- Cultivates and manages the infrastructure for support of process improvement teams and committees.
- Provides inspirational leadership to direct reports, fosters professional growth and development of the team, and facilitates employee engagement.
- Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Behavior.
Required Qualifications :
Education and Training :
- Master’s degree in nursing or related health care field required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse preferred. Knowledge & experience in infection control preferred.
- 5 years management experience as well as 5 years' experience in hospital and / or healthcare quality / safety required.
- CPHQ and CPPS preferred.
