Georgia State University’s Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) is seeking a skilled and diverse professional Network Engineer, Intermediate, to join our vibrant and growing team.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Network Engineering, this position acts as a Network Engineer to design, diagnose, and provide solutions for large-scale network infrastructures.
HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL DO
The scope of responsibilities for this position will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following :
- Design, install, configure and manage project implementation and day-to-day operations for the campus network infrastructure hardware and software in alignment with BOR, IIT, and industry best practices.
- Provide level two diagnostics and problem fault isolation, resolution for moderate to complex networking problems. Support spans all GSU locations, central and secondary data centers, cloud, remote campuses, and other GSU supported sites.
- Document networking systems interconnections, configuration, and processes. Create end-user and internal documentation for systems, applications, and hardware supported and used by the Network Engineering team.
- Analyze current networking processes and procedures and implement new processes and procedures to improve network availability and performance.
- Evaluate new emerging technologies for adaptation and implementation in the campus network infrastructure.
- Perform on call duties as required by the department. Work flexible and extended schedule including nights and weekends to support implementations and incident response as needed.
- Support Information Security on the tracking down and deactivation of network systems and users with security issues. Assisting with remediation of security issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications :
- Experience with Cisco CCNA and CCNP
- Experience with Cisco VOIP and Microsoft VOIP
- Firewalls
- Routing and Switching Knowledge
- Routing Protocols
