Dental Assistant to assist dentists in a free dental clinic that serves the indigent and uninsured.

Responsibilities
Adherence to infection control procedures to reduce the risk of cross-contamination to patient, doctor, and staff. 10 %
Association with the other departments / businesses involved with the function of the dental clinic. 10 %
Incorporates patient management techniques for medically compromised patients by obtaining a general knowledge of the patient's medical condition and providing appropriate support. 10 %
Maintain adequate supplies for the operation of the dental clinic / OR through monitoring the inventory. 10 %
Possess skills in clerical duties so that the Dental Assistant is capable of performing administrative clinic operations. 10 %
Produce extraoral and intraoral radiographs of diagnostic quality while requiring minimal exposure to patients and staff. 10 %
Provide chairside assistance to the doctor / student / hygienist so that dental procedures are productive, of good quality, and completed safely in a timely manner. 10 %
Responsible for proper and effective sterilization technique for instruments, equipment, materials, and accessories. 10 %
Responsible for proper maintenance of operatories and dental equipment in the dental clinic and OR. 10 %
Responsible for proper organization of instrument kits, instrument trays, and accessory equipment according to procedure. 10 %
Qualifications
EDUCATION : Required -
Must be a Dental Assistant I (DA I) per North Carolina Dental Board definitions. Certification of Dental Assisting not required.
EXPERIENCE : Required -
At least one year experience in a dental office with direct patient care, sterilization and inventory control.
Preferred -
More than two years of dental assistant experience working with the indigent population.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRY / LISTING : REQUIRED
Drivers License Valid Drivers License
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Required -
Dental Assistant II or higher.
Note -
If driving Cone health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
