SUMMARY : The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of defined tasks in support of the operations and administration of the Rockwall County Detention Center.
This is accomplished by maintaining files and inventory; processing paperwork for new hires; generating reports and providing administrative support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Provides customer service in person by accepting bonds; administers property releases; and provides other assistance as needed.
- Processes bonds associated with bond processing as needed.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies, orders supplies needed; organizes supply room.
- Maintains a filing system for all jail records; requires light lifting and going up and down step ladders.
- Maintains grievance files; maintains inmate trust accounts.
- Files and maintains inmate records and jail logs.
- Maintains monthly bail bond agency activity reports, agency lists and agencies runner applications.
- Distributes bi-weekly payroll checks.
- Conducts cost comparisons as requested by administration.
- Aids detention staff and administration as needed.
- Cross trains with other staff members as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position has no supervisory or budget responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws, codes, and regulations; County policies and procedures; facility safety and security.
- Knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft applications, database management strategies, PC hardware, printers, scanning, and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of the legal aspects of incarcerating arrested persons.
- Knowledge of fingerprinting and the book-in process.
- Knowledge of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and the Texas Commission Jail Standards.
- Skill in reading, writing, understanding, and following oral and written communications.
- Skill in working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive written and statistical reports, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and co-workers.
- Ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated to work alone and with others.
- Knowledge of processes involving the transfer of incarcerated persons to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
- Good time management, interpersonal communications and public relations.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations, write correspondence and multitask.
- Ability to practice professional ethics in all interactions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Successful completion of training and required certifications
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work is performed in an office environment in the Detention Center with little or no exposure to environmental conditions.
Health and safety exposure is minimal. No protective equipment is required. Vision and hearing are constantly required. Sitting, reaching, standing, fine dexterity, walking, and talking are frequently required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
