VFI seeks an experienced, professional Network Systems Engineer Level III for a complex, multi-year contract to support the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) Information Technology (IT) Services.

Note : All candidates must possess an active DoD Secret clearance

Location : Robins AFB / Warner Robins, GA

Schedule : Monday - Friday, weekends as needed

Travel : Minimal, less than 10%

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Configuration, operation, and administration of network server hardware, operating systems, and communications links.
  • Define and implement solutions to integrate desktop and shared devices into local and wide area networks and / or other host-based networks.
  • Recommends appropriate computer tools to users including equipment software, documentation, and training.
  • Serve as focal point for AFRC Internet Protocol (IP) space management.
  • Serve as focal point for the infrastructure engineering for AFRC.
  • Make recommendations to the Government for infrastructure upgrades, configurations, efforts at HQ and bases. These include : Core Nodes (CN), Critical Distribution Nodes (CDN), Critical Access Nodes (CAN), Distribution Nodes (DN), and Access Nodes (AN).
  • Function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for NIPR / SIPR network-related IT requirement reviews.
  • Function as SME for network Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) support.
  • Perform on-site Local and Wide Area Network (LAN / WAN) security management functions.
  • Function as the SME for Air Force network projects affecting both the HQ and enterprise e.g., Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI), One Base One Network (1B1N), Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI), Enclave NIPR Firewall and ASIM Sustainment (ENFAAS), Installation Processing Node (IPN), etc. .
  • Assist with on-site infrastructure support (e.g., switch and router configuration).
  • Provide input to on-site contract manager as required to support report development and other contract deliverables.
  • Coordinate, document, test, validate, and deploy new network technology provided by Government.
  • Utilize Remedy, ServiceNow or similar Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) tool to document, coordinate, route, resolve, and close network service issues.
  • Determine and mitigate AFNet / Joint Information Environment (JIE)-caused issues to AFRC missions.
  • Support / complete Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) activities as assigned.
  • Participate in Government program / project reviews, technical meetings, and briefings.
  • Remediate vulnerabilities on assigned hardware and software.
  • Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs, AF instructions and orders on assigned systems.

Requirements and Qualifications :

  • At least five (5) years of experience in a network engineering role, preferably within the DoD Enterprise.
  • Networking CCNA or CCNP.
  • BS or MS in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Ability to excel as a member of a collaborative team through open communication, transparency, and flexibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an excellent ability to interact / communicate professionally with senior Government customers and colleagues.
  • Current IAT Level II certification, to be maintained annually through cybersecurity awareness refresher training.
