The Trust Officer acquires and administers Personal Trusts, Estates, Conservatorships, Investment Agencies, Financial Powers of Attorney, and Escrows.
Manages accounts and communicates with customers of related accounts through effective coordination of actions between supporting administrative and operations staff members.
Responsibilities
- Reviews account documents to ensure the fulfillment of legal requirements.
- Maintains ongoing client contact in order to assess needs and seek out financial objectives.
- Reviews and processes incoming client correspondence and mail related to assigned trust accounts.
- Processes paperwork to initiate new account relationships / assets in coordination with the trust accounting system.
- Reviews account investments on a periodic, ongoing basis to monitor performance determining receipt of income or principal cash, and to execute investment and reinvestment of funds.
- Approves any expenditures or bills related to client’s accounts.
- Reviews and is aware of client’s statements and handles correspondence regarding client’s statements.
- Reviews accounts for preparation of tax and informational returns, and sends completed tax information to clients.
- Prepares required accounting and fee statements as required by the Court, through a coordinated effort in working with attorneys and / or customers.
- Directs administrative staff member(s) to assist in various capacities relating to this job description.
- Consults with potential trust prospects for purposes of business development through various contacts : those referred by other departments in the bank or through proactive efforts associated with contacts in the community.
- Participates in Officer calling efforts designated by the Senior Trust Officer and Trust Business Development Manager.
- Attends, and may participate in special bank functions or programs.
- Serves as a member of the Trust Committee and any additional assigned committee roles.
- Participates in community activities in order to enhance overall marketing efforts of the department and bank.
- Recommends changes or enhancement in procedures for the department.
- Works to solve various problems with accounts in coordination with the operations or administrative staff.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of post high school education and related work experience
In addition to education in the field of law, accounting, and investments, prefer 2-4 years of trust related experience or 3-5 years of banking experience in a related area coming into the position is beneficial.
