Summary

JOB SUMMARY The Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Technologist, in collaboration with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive electrophysiology patient procedures, including cardiac device implantation in compliance with principles of sterile techniques while utilizing specialized angiographic equipment and / or complex computerized monitoring equipment.

Assists physician during procedures with the advanced fluoroscopy applications, circulating, scrubbing or monitoring. Responds to patient distress situations and assists with equipment quality control and inventory management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or Cardiovascular Technology program.

Experience : Six (6) months working experience. Licensure / Certification / Registration : Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or RCIS certified, or RCES certified, upon hire into position.

BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Military Training Network upon hire.

ACLS within one (1) year of hire into this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education : Graduate of a Cardiac Electrophysiology Program. Experience : Previous EP Lab experience.

Licensure / Certification / Registration : ACLS, RCES, RCIS, or Allied Professionals EP IBHRE.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to work harmoniously with professional and technical staff and physicians. To communicate verbally and listen to the needs of the patient and the directions of the cardiologist and professional staff within the Cath Lab.
  • Ability to work with and learn to operate technical equipment; to work under stress / pressure; to maintain accurate records / reports;
  • to participate in orientation of new personnel and teaching of students; to see, hear, stand, sit, walk, bend, and speak English;

to take call as required; to maintain confidentiality. READING - Intermediate : Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

WRITING - Intermediate : Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures. SPEAKING - Intermediate : Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development.

Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
