LaAmistad Community Center Manager :

Working under the direction of the Associate Director, the Manager is responsible for administering and supervising our LCC location and providing educational classes, workshops and leadership for the students and staff members consistent with the mission and vision of LaAmistad.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead, manage, supervise and hold direct reports accountable. Facilitate the weekly team meeting effectively. Hire, fire, review, reward and recognize the team that works at the community center.

Evaluate direct reports through quarterly conversations and annual reviews providing constructive feedback and continuing education opportunities.

  • Guide, manage and support daily operations of Community Center and identify and resolve operational issues as they arise
  • Conduct regular visits for programmatic evaluations to ensure programs meet quality expectations and compliance measures
  • Coordinate, manage, analyze, share, distribute, evaluate, select and review all community center opportunities, classes, workshops and offerings that best benefit the community
  • Implement systematic procedures to assess program effectiveness and monitor and evaluate all data
  • Work with partners, facilitators and staff to ensure appropriate impactful programming and seek feedback regularly
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to budget
  • Serves as a resource to students, parents and staff for the purpose of providing information and addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner
  • Assists in preparing, teaching, and evaluating assigned instructional courses as needed
  • Provide timely communication in English and Spanish and effectively respond to all inquiries, questions, and comments in a timely manner
  • Building meaningful connections with community with diverse backgrounds taking a family centered coaching approach using active listening techniques and questioning strategies
  • Utilize volunteers providing training oversight and coaching to enable them to teach and support classes
  • Each role with LaAmistad contributes to a strong team. To support the team, you will likely be required to walk quickly across varying distances on our campuses, lift and carry supplies and other materials, push heavy rolling carts, and climb multiple flights of stairs as well as have adequate hearing and vision to successfully navigate the requirements of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in social work, social sciences, education, or a related field
  • Bilingual with near-native Spanish fluency
  • Experience in working with schools and / or families and children; particularly within the Latinx community
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong leadership, management and organizational skills;
  • Strong administrative skills;
  • Familiarity with adult education and public school systems;
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, work under stress, be resourceful and function as an effective team member;
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license, proof of vehicle liability insurance and pass a criminal background check.
  • Desire to serve students and families in need with a demonstrated passion for service and working with children.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building and communication skills with a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated competence in staff selection, training, supervision and evaluation
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to act effectively under stress
  • Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale
  • MUST have prior administrative or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in education or related field of which at least three years must be of successful teaching or leading
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
