Job Description Charge Capture Specialist
Position Overview :
The charge capture specialist coordinates overall operational and administrative functions of the hospital to ensure maximum efficiency, high-quality patient experiences, and compliance with appropriate financial and regulatory policies.
Essential Functions :
- Charge capture improving automated systems (Instinct) and reviewing charge capture protocols to make any necessary changes.
- Proactive communication to staff on appropriate charge capture to minimize missed charges.
- Daily estimate vs. actual invoice assessments
- Effectively communicate with clinical staff for guidance to prepare estimates for continued hospitalization or procedures and discuss with clients accordingly.
- Monitor patient satisfaction in collaboration with Hospital Management and inform of any issues or risks that arise so management can handle accordingly.
- Meet with management weekly to discuss opportunities for improvement while displaying a growth mindset to develop new paths, procedures, and approaches to maximize performance and process improvement.
- Abide by and ensure personnel follow hospital policies and procedures, included in contents of Employee Handbook.
Competencies / Qualifications :
- Strong proficiency with practice management platforms (Cornerstone & Instinct)
- Fluent with use of multi-line telephone system, computers, scanners.
- Resourcefulness and adaptability; the ability to take the initiative and get things done as well as the ability to adapt to changes or new information.
- Compliance; ability to understand and follow important compliance regulations and requirements of the hospital.
- Time management; task prioritization by urgency, multi-tasking, and well organized.
- Demonstrated strong proficiency and / or understanding of data sets; extract, evaluate, clean, and summarize; conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis and validation as applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively, and effectively with clinical staff, clients, and management.
- Past leadership / management role preferred
- Past customer service experience required
