Job Summary :
The Food R&D Lead will lead in the development of new products according to customer and company specifications. They will contribute to the maintenance and review of formulas for new and existing products.
Builds and maintains working relationships with new and existing customers. Works with Quality Assurance and Food Safety Team to ensure applicable regulations are being followed.
R&D Responsibilities :
- Assist in design, development, test processes, and processing equipment for food processing factories.
- Coordinates and conducts test trials.
- Provides technical expertise, leadership, and timely execution in the development of new products.
- Works with both internal staff and external customer needs efficiently and promptly.
- Ensure new products comply with regulatory rules.
- Reviews raw material specifications, COAs, Safety Data Sheets, process flow diagrams, analytical test methods, non- genetically modified organism documentation, allergen information, ingredient declarations, nutritional composition, vendor disclosures, etc.
to successfully fulfill R&D projects.
- Reviews and updates formulas.
- Reviews label claims.
- Coordinates shelf-life studies and analysis of the products.
- Follow all GMP requirements for documentation, quality, and sanitation.
- Follow all SOP’s and work procedures.
- Improve quality of equipment and increase production of food products.
- Create new methods and processes to increase food manufacturing efficiency.
- Recommend equipment for company usage.
- Repair production processes that are not working properly.
- Evaluate and record costs of processes and equipment.
- Work with quality assurance teams to maintain food product standards.
- Present and discuss processes and equipment findings with company management.
- Teach and train new employees about processes and equipment.
- Identify and correct quality problems.
- Ensure operations are safe and effective.
- Effectively communicates projects with other departments and customers in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities
- This position collaborates with the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Department.
- Maintains adequate knowledge of products and equipment to ensure quality and food safety.
- Adheres to product specification requirements.
- Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of HACCP.
- Comprehension and adequate execution of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Reviews and updates formulas as assigned.
- Maintains QA programs and food safety practices as assigned.
- Monitors and enforces food safety, sanitation and allergen programs.
Knowledge and skills :
- Knowledge of Food Quality principles.
- Knowledge of Food Safety regulations.
- Has experience in Technical Data Sheets, Label Reviews, and Shelf-Life Testing / Studies.
- Proficient in Regulatory Requirements
- Has motivation and drive to start and complete projects.
- Has written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and convey ideas to others.
