Consumer Lending Ops Specialist I - 100% in office position

GENERAL SUMMARY :

This position is also responsible for collecting, coordinating, and analyzing all required documentation associated with boarding loans originated through the MCC, EMSC and Centralized Funding channels.

The incumbent utilizes the appropriate sales techniques to ensure successful loan closing, as well as proactively identifying other cross-sell opportunities for the expansion of credit union business.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION :

This position works with a minimal amount of supervision and direction and is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided that such action is consistent with cost-effective practices and is consistent with the policy and procedures of Kinecta Federal Credit Union.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

There are no direct supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to take the lead on assigned projects and may oversee the work of others working on assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Retrieve and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • Reviews loan and DMV documentation to determine accuracy and validity of sources and appropriateness for use.
  • Process and disburse loan proceeds
  • Processes loan applications gathers and reviews all supporting documents to ensure they correspond to the loan application and is correctly entered into the system.
  • Uses knowledge of Federal tax returns to determine and verify sufficient income to support loan request if necessary.
  • Analyzes and / or reviews credit bureau data to identify cross-sell opportunities of other Credit Union and CUSO products and services.
  • Audits loan files to ensure they are accurate and complete.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and / or state laws, regulations and / or credit union rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Establishes contact with member to communicate loan status, approval conditions, and counteroffers.
  • Prepares and funds completed loan packages in a timely manner and distributes to member, in accordance with member requests and Credit Union lending policy.
  • Supports corporate campaigns and facilitates department activity to generate increased loan production, e.g., contests, motivational programs, and incentives.
  • Ensures that established personal and department loan production goals are attained.
  • Effectively interacts with external parties to facilitate completion of loan documentation and internal parties regarding member service, problems and / or error resolution.
  • Balances general ledger accounts associated with loan transactions.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of management and maintains the confidentiality of all loans.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Performs other duties including special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Must be able to perform clerical duties
  • Must be able to perform basic Teller transactions
  • Knowledge of loan process and typical industry standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of tracking and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Federal regulations as applicable.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State tax returns and other relevant documents to determine if applicant's income is sufficient to qualify for loan approval under Credit Union guidelines.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures in order to use judgment in applying these guidelines to process / fund loans.
  • Knowledge of DMV processes
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles in order to balance general ledger accounts.
  • Knowledge of computer applications related to the work (i.e., Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Knowledge of features and benefits of Credit Union products and services in order to solicit, explain, and discuss with members.
  • Knowledge of corporate sales training programs and ability to execute these techniques to close loans and sell related Credit Union products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to analyze member's financial needs in order to provide the appropriate product.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information or skills.
  • Ability to multitask and produce accurate detailed work.
  • Ability to work under intensive and competing deadlines.

Education, Training and Experience :

Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements :

  • Associates Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum two years of consumer lending, sales and / or customer service experience in a consumer lending environment.

One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • The job may require flexibility with regards to scheduling days, hours, and work location, depending on business needs.
  • The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 35% of the work time to transfer files, ask questions, and related activities.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES, MENTAL DEMANDS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to exercise sound judgment, effectively plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, work well under changing timelines, take the initiative and be flexible and cooperative.

Accuracy, timeliness and maintaining confidentiality related to member, employee information and company records is required.

While performing the job duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone;

use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 lbs.

The employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read and operate office equipment, as necessary.

The employee works under typical office conditions and noise levels.
