A Senior Manager or Director within our Disputes, Claims , & Investigations group ( DCI ) will work in a dynamic and fast-paced consulting environment advising clients and their legal counsel, preparing financial and economic damage s calculations and related forensic and financial advisory work in complex commercial litigation .
In addition, t his position includes a sub-specialty in the area of in post-transaction disputes .
Senior Managers are assigned to multiple project teams to manage the day-to-day activities associated with each project and oversee the work and development of Analysts and Associates .
Senior Managers work directly under the supervision of Stout’s M anaging Directors and , Directors and Senior Managers .
Clients are based locally, regionally, and nationally across a wide range of industries .
The selected candidate will also assist senior Stout practitioners with business development and marketing activities including proposals, presentations, articles, pitchbooks, and related research as well as market-facing activities to develop / maintain relationships with clients and prospects, principally commercial litigation attorneys and in-house legal counsel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities :
Lead the day-to-day execution of DCI projects, with primary responsibility for coordinating and executing the engagement workplan by project teams .
Project teams typically range in size from three to six professionals, including Analysts and Associates.
Work with engagement leaders to strategize engagement approach, including developing engagement workplans and reporting to leadership on engagement progress.
Conduct or oversee the review and analysis of supporting documents ; research of various financial, accounting, economic, and / or market topics to support the basis for analyses and opinions .
Oversee the creation of engagement work product , including financial analys e s and modeling , written reports and presentations .
Our analys e s var y from project to project and may entail complex quantitative , accounting, financial , statistical, and / or database analyses of business records.
Assist with the management of client relationships.
Participation in marketing / thought leadership efforts and actively promote the Stout brand.
Assist with career development of Analysts and Associates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Overall DCI Senior Manager Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Background in accounting and / or finance, through educational studies or relevant experience.
Ability to understand and critically analyze f inancial documents such as f inancial statements and accounting records.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Microsoft Excel , in order to build and / or analyze complex financial models and analyses.
Ability to use other modeling and data analysis tools is also a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments / opinions.
Ability to conduct and / or direct others in completing daily project tasks and research.
Ability and flexibility to work with changing, client-imposed deadlines.
Able to manage multiple engagement s simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills.
Periodic travel may be required depending on the project.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Transactional / M&A Disputes
Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAA P . Familiarity with other financial statement reporting frameworks such as IFRS also a plus.
Understanding of and ability to analyze documents and information underlying financial statements.
Familiarity and experience with M&A transactions.
Familiarity with and ability to work with complex financial models and methodologies commonly used in valuing M&A transactions , such as : Discounted Cash Flow s , IRR analyses , LBO models, comparable transaction and trading multiples analyses.
Ability to prepare, review, and critique post-transaction breach and damages analyses, including representations and warranties insurance (RWI) claims.
Education and / or Training :
4-year undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics
10 + years of relevant professional experience in the accounting, M&A, or finance disciplines. Litigation consulting, transaction advisory, professional / public accounting, assuran ce / au dit and / or corporate development experience preferred .
One or more of the following credentials preferred : CPA, a valuation credential (CFA, CVA, ASA), or currently progressing toward these credentials.
