JOB DESCRIPTION : The Communications Specialist reports to the Director of Communications and is a key content creator for internal and external school communications.
This person will cover for a current employee on family leave.
Weekly newsletter production.
Plan and curate weekly parent / guardian newsletters including : Connection, The Week Ahead and the bi-weekly KDPA newsletter : Parent Community News
Regularly track newsletter metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of publications and messaging
Maintain newsletter and email archive page for KDS parents
Create, maintain and troubleshoot community email lists and message templates.
Social media management
Regularly post to social media with relevant, engaging content tailored to each major channel : Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Provide ongoing creative service assistance.
Support internal and external communications by assisting with photography, videography, video editing and / or graphic design projects.
Manage and curate Kent Denver’s photo and video archives.
Provide support to students and employees seeking to use photo archive assets.
Other creative projects as assigned by the Director
Support Kent Denver’s website.
Update the Parent Portal, Home Page News and other sections as needed.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES :
AP Style Writing
You must possess knowledge and awareness of AP style and the tone of Kent Dever School to compose stories for the weekly parent newsletter, Connection, and Home Page news.
High Attention to Detail and Creative Mindset
This position requires high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
You should have the ability to create and execute a variety of multimedia projects, bringing unique ideas and perspectives to Kent Denver’s external communications.
Adobe Creative Suite
You must have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, in particular : Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Premiere.
In this position, you are co-editing and co-producing all creative content produced by the Kent Denver communications department.
Additional Preferred Experience : Adobe InDesign
Content Management System
You should have familiarity with a website content management system, such as FinalSite or Wordpress. If you don’t have this experience, training can be provided upon hiring.
You must be able to learn quickly and pick up the essential technical skills to produce weekly newsletters and publications for the department.
Additional Information / Other
This is a temporary, contract position to provide coverage during employee family leave.
Stipend :
$18,000 total paid throughout coverage period (Approximately $4,500 / month)
Start Date :
January 29, 2025 through May 28, 2025 (expected)
