POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director, Audit manages the team of compliance auditors and supports all audit processes and protocol implementation.
This position is responsible for ensuring regular and random audits are conducted annually for all National Governing Bodies (NGB) and the USOPC.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
- Manage, supervise, and track the performance of compliance auditors and conduct pre- and post-audit meetings, as necessary.
- Collaborate with Director to evaluate the audit team’s delivery of services, effectiveness, and efficiencies to ensure alignment and fulfillment of strategic plan.
- Lead development and refinement of internal / external audit standards, controls, protocols, and practices including Audit Manual.
- Partner with NGB Engagement, Data, Education, and Response & Resolutions teams to ensure comprehensive recommendations to audit standards and NGB assessments.
- Develop appropriate milestones and launch schedules to ensure timely and successful delivery of regular and random audits of USOPC and NGBs.
- Prepare monthly and annual summary reports of key audit findings and high-risk areas for all organizations within the Olympic and Paralympic Movement (the Movement) to the Director.
- Conduct ongoing review of all supporting documentation internally (workpapers) and externally (provided by NGBs). - Review all workpapers and draft reports to ensure consistent application across the Movement.
- Attend at least one event audit per auditor each audit cycle. - Support Director to manage and create audit team budget to ensure annual audits and appropriate follow up.
- Lead onboarding and training for auditors. - Support ongoing professional development of all auditors.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in audit or compliance related field
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletics Administration, Accounting, Compliance, or related field of study required, or equivalent work experience
- Experience supervising remote team preferred
- Extensive understanding of creation of compliance, audit standards, and policy.
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to regularly think critically and strategically, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in fast-paced environment.
- High level of flexibility in communication style.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
