Title : Maintenance Electrician / Control Systems Tech / General Maintenance Tech
Job Summary :
The Maintenance Electrician / Control Systems Tech / General Maintenance Tech is responsible for installation and repairs of electrical systems, equipment, and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.
Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance of control systems including but not limited to PLC, VFDs, pneumatic, hydraulic etc.
Be responsible for general equipment maintenance including preventive maintenance, tear down and rebuild and reconditioning of components as well as infrastructure maintenance including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Install electrical wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment per NEC standards.
- Install, modify and trouble shoot machine control systems.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment such as machinery, ovens, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken components.
- Replaces electric motor bearings.
- Install, modify and trouble shoot PID temperature controls and power systems.
- Carries out such other general duties as may be delegated by the Facilities Manager or team leader.
- Replaces faulty electrical components on equipment, such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards Plans layout wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical components within the facility.
- Install data and security wiring.
- Ability to assist in the building of automated equipment including the installation and programming of PLC's, robots, vision systems and sensors.
- PLC Programming and trouble shooting skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the following :
- National Electrical Codes.
- Installation of all types of electrical circuits.
- Facility machinery and equipment
- Single and three phase motor control systems
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Be able to facilitate general machining, including milling, cutting, grinding, turning as
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems, machines, and equipment.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities :
- Be mechanically minded with an aptitude for machinery inner workings, learning the complete functionality of cold forming manufacturing equipment.
- Understand electrical circuitry and be able to troubleshoot and problem solve controls systems safely and effectively both with and without manuals.

- Be able to effectively work in machining, welding, grinding to administer repairs for machine breakages. Have an ability to quickly and methodically troubleshoot systems.
- Be able to effectively resolve issues and or problems as they arise.
- Know how to correctly use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and be able to lift using good safety practices.
- Know Lockout-Tagout procedures : why and when to use. Complete LO / TO quiz.
- Know how and when to use personal protective equipment.
- Be certified in operating the forklift and trained to operate the scissor lift.
- Be able to use machine shop equipment including band saw, bench grinder, lathes, mill, sanders and surface grinder.
- Communicate with factory personnel, supervisors, and managers of departments as necessary to carry out essential functions.
- Work in a team environment.
- Work unsupervised.
- Be able to use a micrometer, vernier caliper and dial indicator.
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in Industrial Maintenance (recommended)
- NC electrical license or Journeyman / City card (recommended)
Physical Requirements :
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
