Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Landscape Designer role involves extensive communication with clients to discuss and plan the design, scheduling, and installation of landscape projects.

Key responsibilities include processing client information, arranging and attending meetings, photographing sites, drafting designs, compiling plant lists, and securing necessary project approvals.

Additionally, the Designer estimates costs for supplies and materials, ensuring budget adherence for each project. This role demands effective scheduling and clear communication with both clients and the Landscape Foreman to facilitate smooth project execution.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation of Landscape Plans : Execute detailed landscape designs, including reading and following scale and cross-section drawing.
  • Supervision of Planting : Oversee the planting and propagation of bedding plants.
  • Documentation Management : Track and maintain relevant files and paperwork.
  • Design and Measurement : Measure sites and create scale, cross-section drawings, and designs.
  • Storm Water Management : Calculate storm water run-off capacity and assess water run-off predictability.
  • Safety Compliance : Ensure adherence to proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
  • Attention to Detail : Maintain high levels of precision while working in a dynamic environment.
  • Time Management : Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Team Collaboration : Work effectively with team members of various skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Professionalism : Maintain a clean and professional appearance, with punctuality and dependability.
  • Customer Service : Promote and maintain a positive attitude, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Safety and Work Documentation : Read and interpret safety, employment manuals, and other work-related documents.
  • Education : High school diploma or GED required. Completed higher education degrees may substitute for experience.
  • Experience : Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Plant and Horticulture Expertise : Expert knowledge in plant care, horticulture methods, landscaping, and tree cultivation.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in rain garden maintenance, soil type identification, and appropriate soil amendments.
  • Physical Ability : Capable of lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and performing labor in various weather conditions.
  • Communication Skills : Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Safety Knowledge : Understanding of first aid and safety precautions.
  • Technical Proficiency : Competence with MacOS, Microsoft Word, Excel, 3D design software, and company-specific systems.
  • Personal Attributes : Highly motivated, detail-oriented, excellent time management, ability to multitask, professional appearance, punctuality, and dependability.
