Attendance Specialist 10 Months / 8 Hours - Bilingual Preferred (2024-25 School Year)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact in supporting student attendance.
  • Utilizes a data-based approach to initiate early identification of students who do not meet attendance expectations.
  • Work with building staff to ensure attendance codes are implemented in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Arranges individual or group problem solving sessions related to successful class attendance.
  • Responsible for parent outreach in accordance with established building attendance processes.
  • Responsible for referring students with attendance concerns to the building-based attendance problem solving team.
  • Participates in building level attendance problem solving teams.

QUALIFICATIONS : High School Diploma or GED required, additional post-secondary hours preferred, 3-5 years of experience working with children preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to our core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to organize data and information to make recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of outside agencies for family resources.
  • Ability to work in an urban school environment.
  • Ability to navigate different computer software programs that include but are not limited to : Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and PowerSchool platform.

WORK CALENDAR : 10 Months

WORKING CONDITIONS : Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
