Senior Software Engineer, DVM

Outcomes and Activities :

This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required.

However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member

Design and develop software and improve existing code to make it more efficient to detect bugs in the code

Write unit-tests and validate your software against acceptance criteria

Author, apply and advocate for team coding, documenting and testing standards

Conduct impact analysis to proactively identify impact of a change across multiple applications

Learn the business process domain to better support the business

Experiment and test ideas, validate assumptions against needs, reach conclusions and recommend solutions

Lead code reviews and communicate application changes

Document code and projects so others can easily understand, maintain and support

Debug the problems which arise in production and propose effective solutions within the application and across multiple applications

Read, write and review design documents

Contribute to team's sprint commitments and actively participate in our Agile practices

Lead continuous learning activities to improve design and code quality as well as to increase application domain knowledge

Participate in the talent selection process

Guide and review the code, designs and documentation of less experienced software engineers

Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.

Technical Domain : Have a deep understanding of the technical domain, including the system architecture, design and data of the systems they support and systems to which it interfaces .

Facilitation Techniques : Organize, support and / or conduct workshops, meetings, presentations specific to the objectives of each, problem to be solve, and needs of the audience.

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Systems, or closely related field of study; or equivalent work experience

Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience or comparable depth of experience

Strong understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patterns

Practical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile / SCRUM and Waterfall

Practical experience in data modeling, design and messaging

Experience working on mission-critical enterprise class applications

De mon strated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members

Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Preferred :

Experience in the lead role overseeing technical direction of a team of software engineering talent

Advanced understanding of IDEs, have the ability to navigate through them quickly and leverage advanced features to improve your performance

In-depth usage and creation of application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks in their particular field : JSON, Rest / SOAP based Web Services, JUnit, Jenkins and Bitbucket preferred

Experience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications

Experience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger or similar tools desirable

Ability to use DDL to create database objects and relationships, construct advanced queries, and optimize query performance

Financial services industry experience

Knowledge and Skills :

Ability to challenge the status quo and influence stakeholders to create innovative solutions

Be collaborative with other team members, seeking a diversity of thought to meet business outcomes

Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day

Java platform experience

Practical expertise in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Waterfall and Agile / SCRUM

Practical expertise in data modeling and database management

The Senior Software Engineer will de mon strate advanced skills while coaching and mentoring less senior team members

Microservices architecture experience

Preferred Experience :

Minimum 3 years (of total) experience as an engineer embedded in team in an agile and DevOps delivery environment

Experience in the technical lead role overseeing a team of software engineering talent

Advanced IDE usage including memorized the shortcuts associated with them to accelerate the work, write custom macros and optimize the IDE

In-depth usage and creation of API libraries and custom frameworks to optimize and automate the program's functionality

Experience with Spring Boot, Spring REST, or Spring MVC

Experience with JSON, AJAX, SOA, Rest / SOAP based Web Services, JUnit, Jenkins and Bitbucket

Experience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications etc.

Experience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger and RAML or similar tools desirable

Experienced with Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

Ability to fully design and manage databases and use syntax to expedite results, advanced queries and convert data across incompatible interfaces.

Hands-on knowledge of multiple programming languages, as well as the foundations of how languages work

Target Compensation : A competitive base salary + an annual variable cash bonus will range from $ 113, 518 - $ 201, 919 .

Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications, and geographic location.
