We are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Drafter to join our growing Exterior Products team at our Corona, CA R&D facility.
This critical position will prepare and / or revise detailed drawings, matching the Bill of Materials as well as design of automotive parts and sub-assemblies.
The ideal candidate possesses experience in mechanical design and engineering, has advanced SolidWorks skills with a detail-oriented mindset and a passion for drafting.
Responsibilities :
- Utilize SolidWorks to produce accurate drafts.
- Update existing drawings and sub-assemblies per the engineer's instructions.
- Create new detail drawings and sub-assemblies as needed.
- Support projects that include new products, but also sustaining projects and VIP (value improvement projects).
- Take measurements of existing parts to use in the design of new / modified products using standard measuring tools and computer aided tools.
This may include scanning devices.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation
- Create BOM (Bill of Material) through project documentation on parts and sub-assemblies.
- Inspect and verify accuracy of drawings to parts.
- Draft documentation that may include BOM (Bill of Materials), test reports, and technical specs for instruction sheets.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements
- Review and modify designs to correct any errors or discrepancies
- Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles
Education / Experience :
- High School diploma, required.
- AA Degree in drafting preferred, or 2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
