Responsible for organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, financial statements, and tax information.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Develops and plans department objectives with Chief Executive Officer and staff including short- and long-range accounting programs in budgeting, profit analysis, accounting systems, and internal auditing.
  • Oversees and directs financial accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information and effective expense management.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Manages annual budget process covering all clinic locations and ancillaries.
  • Manages cash flow, assessing needs and recommending appropriate financing to support capital requirements.
  • Coordinates with CEO to plan and facilitate monthly meetings of the board’s Finance Committee.
  • Works with Finance Committee to develop and approve financial statements, including balance sheets, profit / loss statements, and analysis of variances in accounts, ratios, income and expense.
  • Calculates compensation of all physician partners following the compensation model developed and approved by partners.
  • Reviews all expenditures for compliance with budget and financial policies.
  • Reviews all third-party contracts and monitors contract revenues. Interacts with auditors, lenders, and other third-party agencies regarding financial matters.
  • Coordinates with CEO and Human Resources to administer employee benefit plans effectively and cost-efficiently.
  • Administers OrthoCincy’s retirement plan, ensuring responsible management of investments, compliance with all regulations, and oversight of outside administrators.
  • Develops and maintains a banking relationship for the practice.
  • Responsible for hiring, development, and other personnel matters for finance team.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, providers, and co-workers.
  • Ensures HIPAA, OSHA and safety compliance of the department.
  • Participates as needed as a member of various committees related to the overall improvement of the organization.
  • Directs the preparation of statistical information and reports for management, government, industry benchmarking, and other agencies.

Education / Experience : Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Master's degree in finance and / or CPA preferred. Minimum three years of financial management experience including two years in a health care organization.

Other Requirements : Travel to other locations as designated. Evening hours and some weekends will be worked as designated by practice.

Position requires a flexible schedule.

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting functions, including budgeting, credit, investments, regulations and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheet and financial systems programs and applications.
  • Knowledge of management practices to lead assigned staff.
  • Knowledge of strategic business objectives and employee performance objectives.

Skills :

  • Skill in analyzing financial data and preparing appropriate related reports.
  • Skill in relating organizational objectives to financial policies on costs, fees, credit, etc.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, auditors, and the public.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving accounting and financial problems.

Abilities :

  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff and work under multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work creatively with management and department staff to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
  • The ability to develop and motivate a team and ability to provide and support a vision and direction is required.
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented environment.

Equipment Operated : Standard office equipment.

Work Environment : Office environment.

Mental / Physical Requirements : Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
