Experienced Website Designer (Remote Volunteer Position)
Sacred Chrysalis Perinatal Loss & Bereavement Services is a newly formed 501(c)(3) seeking an experienced volunteer website designer to revamp and maintain our organization's website.
This role is crucial in enhancing our online presence, improving user experience, and ensuring that bereaved families can easily access our resources and support services.
Our mission is to provide compassionate, holistic, comprehensive, trauma-informed support, education, resources, and advocacy for underserved and underrepresented mothers, families, and communities experiencing pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant death and the profound grief that follows.
Responsibilities Redesign and modernize our existing website to improve aesthetics and functionality Ensure the website is responsive and accessible across all devices and platforms Implement user-friendly navigation and intuitive information architecture Integrate secure donation capabilities and volunteer sign-up forms Create a resources section with easy-to-access information for bereaved families Implement SEO best practices to improve our online visibility Ensure the website adheres to web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.
1) Provide training to staff members on basic website maintenance and updates Perform regular website maintenance and security updates Collaborate with our team to ensure the website accurately reflects our mission and services Qualifications Proven experience in website design and development Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design techniques Experience with content management systems (preferably WordPress) Knowledge of UX / UI best practices Familiarity with SEO principles and implementation Understanding of web accessibility standards Strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of bereaved families Technical Skills Required Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software Experience with WordPress theme development and customization Knowledge of PHP and MySQL (beneficial) Familiarity with version control systems (e.
