What you'll do

As a Product Manager within our Aviation and Enterprise segment at Viasat, you will be responsible for shaping the direction of our Enterprise Internet-of-Things (IoT) strategy.

This high impact role will be identifying and extracting tangible value from our product and service offerings and making our IoT portfolio an ongoing success for Viasat and its customers.

The IoT Product Manager's mission is to connect everything that can be connected and drive business growth for Viasat. You will do this by understanding the markets, customers, partners, competitors, and trends to create long term product roadmaps supported by valuable business cases and executable product plans.

The day-to-day

You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You are a hands-on problem-solver with can-do confidence. You are a strong collaborator equally comfortable talking tech with Developers and impactful outcomes with Sales and Commercial teams.

  • Build a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge base of the IoT ecosystems.
  • Engage deeply with partners and suppliers to achieve shared goals.
  • You don't have to be an expert but must have a strong affinity for technical challenges and investigating with a passion for data and insights.
  • You will work with a cross-functional team to define priorities for investment, strategies for product improvement, delivering at scale, and investing in systems and tools to improve fundamentals.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate :

  • Planning and Execution : Ability to think holistically and strategically. Show ability to plan, prioritize and handle sophisticated technical products.
  • Data driven : Skilled at using data to draw insights, answer hard questions, and guide actions and productize into valuable offerings.

Hands on experience with data acquisition, manipulation, and analysis is preferable.

  • Depth in driving both product requirements and measuring business impact is strongly preferred.
  • Communication : Able to conduct informative conversations with senior business and technical decision makers inside Viasat.

Communicate sophisticated ideas to others in a clear, effective and motivating manner.

  • Collaboration : Generous collaborator, able to work effectively across broad teams and influence collaborators of all levels and of all fields across Viasat.
  • Cultural leadership : Ability and passion to lead cultural initiatives in making objective and data-based decision making a DNA of the organization, having a positive impact on team culture, and fostering an environment of inclusion and respect.
  • Consistently demonstrating executive maturity and intellectual curiosity, helping the team pursue the best ideas.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years' experience in product management.
  • Proven proficiency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, commit to results, and written and verbal communications.
  • Experience of going through a full product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, driving prioritization and tradeoffs, and pre / post launch execution.
  • Understanding of hardware, software products, and services
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or equivalent experience
  • Able to travel up to 20%

What will help you on the job

  • Experience with basic financial forcasting and modeling
  • Experience with different network architectures and hybrid networks / SD-WAN
  • Experience with IoT and use cases for Enterprise IoT
  • Experience with satellite and cellular communications
  • Experience in product development and development methodologies
  • A solid understanding of Data Privacy, governance and security, and the ability to stay current on constantly evolving global requirements.
  • Track record of building high functioning teams, including recruiting, and retaining diverse talent.
  • MBA / Master's degree a plus

Salary range

$126,700.00 - $220,200.00 / annually

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
