Job Summary :
The Clinical Infusion Nurse is responsible for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient / family education and transitions of care.
This role performs infusions inhouse and supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Essential Job Functions :
- Perform in-house infusions on a wide variety of patients using a variety of infusible medications.
- Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures. Document findings in the electronic medical record.
- Perform care as defined by patient's care plan.
- Monitor patient's condition and notify appropriate personnel of any changes.
- Provide those services requiring substantial and specialized nursing skill.
- Counsel patients and family in meeting nursing and related needs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge of scope of practice and patient care standards / practices.
Knowledge of proper Intravenous (IV) and infusion protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in planning, organizing, and time management.
Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Skill in managing multiple priorities and problem solving.
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives.
Ability to maintain high levels of professional and personal integrity.
Ability to convey professional demeanor and sound judgment in dealing with patients' care, protection of patient privacy, and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to act as a good representative of the company.
EDUCATION & Experience :
Active certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an RN utilizing electronic Health Records (EHR) required.
One (1) year of experience in Intravenous (IV) and Infusion required.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort :
This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent sitting and computer work and allows employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.
Must be able to :
Stand 40% or longer during the workday
Walk 20% or longer during the workday.
Sit 40% or longer during the workday.
Requires repetitive use of hands for : simple grasping, fine manipulation.
Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
