Job Summary
The Digital Content Specialist II will oversee the Archdiocese of St. Louis’ digital dialogue with local Catholics, as well as support dialogue with internal audiences and the community at-large.
As a member of the Communication Office’s Engagement Team, the Digital Content Specialist II reports to the Director of Community & Media Engagement, works closely with the entire Communications Office, and is a key partner to archdiocesan offices, ministries, parishes and schools helping them effectively tell their stories in a way that fits within the archdiocesan brand umbrella.
Job Responsibilities
The primary goal of the Communications Office is to elevate the archbishop’s vision and pastoral priorities in accordance with the Catholic Church’s teachings on missionary discipleship and social communications.
The Digital Content Specialist II will :
Serve as the primary content creator and manager for the archdiocese’s public-facing website, intranet site, and robust social media presence.
Cultivate relationships and support archdiocesan entities (offices / ministries / parishes / schools), assisting them in determining their digital media needs and providing guidance in best practices and standards.
Further support archdiocesan entities through design, digital campaign, written content, strategic communications and other related marketing services.
Provide project management as requested by the Director of Community & Media Engagement.
Monitor social media trends, news and best practices, especially as they apply to Catholic communications; innovate for new ways to communicate in emerging mediums as relevant, always seeking to strengthen the relationships between the Archdiocese of St.
Louis, archdiocesan entities and individual Catholics, as well as to evangelize to non-Catholics. Collaborate with Publications Team to help elevate their content and boosting their influence as the destination for the truth about the Catholic Church in St.
Louis. Execute SEO / SEM tactics, as well as paid-digital advertising campaigns.
Act as liaison to IT to ensure optimized user experience with the public-facing website and intranet site.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 1 year of relevant experience; 3 or more years a plus. Strong knowledge of and passion for the principles, teachings and mysteries of the Catholic faith.
Basic knowledge of HTML, WordPress or similar platform, front-end web content development, and SEO. Google Analytics experience a plus.
Experience managing social media platforms, including digital ad campaigns and analytics.
Excellent writing skills and success in social media and web writing. Video script writing a plus. Ability to shoot and produce basic web-friendly video.
Photography and podcast production skills a plus.
Graphic design experience. Experience with e-mail, newsletter, and database management. Ability to manage multiple projects and respond quickly to unexpected requests with minimal oversight.
