Overview

The Marathon St. Paul Park Refinery is seeking a full-time Reliability & Inspection Supervisor in the Maintenance Department.

This position supervises the Craft Reliability Engineers (Rotating, Electrical, Instrumentation, Fixed Equipment, Corrosion, and Condition Monitoring) who are considered subject matter experts in each of their respective disciplines.

The Reliability & Inspection supervisor also supervises the Inspection Department (Area Inspectors, Piping Inspector, and QA / QC) who manage mechanical integrity monitoring of Fixed Equipment assets.

The Reliability Supervisor provides the vision and facilitates continuous improvement efforts in support of long-term reliability improvements.

They work closely with all departments to achieve common goals to achieve safe, compliant, reliable operation of the refinery while maximizing profitability of the site.

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises Rotating, Electrical, Instrument, Fixed Equipment Mechanical Engineers, and site Inspectors. Provides guidance for technical and professional development.
  • Ensures the Reliability department provides technical expertise and field support of needed maintenance repairs.
  • Ensures the site maintains long-term reliability focus, continuous improvement, and creates / monitors applicable KPI’s
  • Collaborates with all departments to improve engineering designs, operational care, and maintenance practices.
  • Communicates risk and establishes maintenance priorities with the Refinery Leadership Team and the Area Operating Teams.
  • Communicates the status of reliability initiatives to the three Area Teams and Refinery Leadership Team
  • Monitors the sites threat lists to mechanical availability and prioritizes initiatives based on the Total Cost of Unreliability list.
  • Responsible for asset data integrity management for SAP and APM
  • Ensures Mechanical Integrity Compliance and adherence to all corporate specifications.
  • Evaluates new technologies and their suitability to improving the reliability within the refinery.
  • Is able to teach and promote the consistent use of Reliability Analytics tools and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs), and Asset Health Indicators through the Meridium Platform
  • Ensures that appropriate turnaround work scope is identified for Fixed, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Rotating Equipment
  • Ensures that the Reliability Group is active in all Advisory Group networking activities.
  • Supports Corporate Initiatives to improve the overall reliability of the company.
  • Interfaces with the Project Controls department for budgeting of Reliability Initiatives
  • Manages staff by initiating selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate and is accountable for fair and uniform application of personnel policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. Additional education / certifications (i.e. PE, MBA, CRE) are a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of refinery Maintenance / Engineering experience
  • Prior experience in Reliability is desired.
  • Strong initiative, leadership, collaboration, and strategic / critical thinking skills are essential.
  • Experience with Meridium software is preferred.
  • SAP Experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project
