Information Technology Services (ITS) seeks a User Services Specialist to join its User Services Group. Reporting to the Director of User Services, this position is responsible for providing IT support for faculty, administrators, students, and staff.
In addition to a strong technical background, this position requires excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organization, and written / oral communication skills.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong service orientation and a desire to keep skills and knowledge current in a rapidly changing field.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include providing onsite and remote support for desktop and laptop computers running Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems as well as networked and local printers;
- integrating computers, printers, mobile devices and peripherals to the campus network and off-site web services; supporting licensed college productivity and academic applications;
- creating technical documentation / training materials delivered in web, video, and printed media; facilitating effective communication between ITS colleagues, the campus community and the Level 1 help desk provider;
providing oversight to ITS student technical support staff.
Education / Experience
Bachelors degree preferred but not required; technical / military training considered with appropriate work experience.
Skills
- Minimum of 3 years experience with general desktop / laptop installation and troubleshooting the latest Windows and macOS operating systems;
- MS Office for PC & Mac; Adobe Suite; Google Workspace; network file services; data recovery methods; virus / malware detection and removal;
understanding of Ethernet and IP based wired / wireless network communication. Experience with help desk / service desk industry standards and organizational Asset Management practices is desirable.
Candidates must be able to physically lift and transport equipment up to 35 pounds.
