About the Role & Team

We create happiness. That’s our motto at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. And it permeates everything we do. At Disney, you’ll help encourage that magic by enabling our teams to push the limits and build the never-before-seen! Are you ready to join this team and make an impact?

What do the Magic Kingdom’s TRON Lightcycle Run, Disney’s Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, and Oga’s Cantina at Galaxy’s Edge all have in common?

They’re all beloved experiences at Walt Disney World that rely on life safety systems. At Disney, safety is our top priority, and behind the scenes, an array of advanced systems quietly ensures the safety of our guests and cast members every day.

As a Staff Facilities Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and assuring the quality of critical systems like fire protection, smoke control, oxygen displacement monitoring, water quality, and overhead safety.

The role is unique, not only because of the diversity of systems and projects but also because our engineers are involved as thought partners from the earliest stages of development and are empowered to take action on ongoing projects and maintenance.

This is a 24 month Project Hire role projected until October 2026.

The Staff Facilities Quality Engineer will report to Manager, Quality Engineering.

  • Participate in periodic smoke control & emergency power testing and maintenance.
  • Apply Florida state and local codes for life safety systems.
  • Develop clear and consistent strategies for alternate means and methods to solve for conflicting requirements.
  • Serve as a thought partner to identify, understand, and mitigate risk.
  • Understand building automation and controls.
  • Review system designs including calculations, drawings, and submittals developed by project design teams for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Disney standards and guiding principles.
  • Develop requirements and processes for periodic testing, critical equipment checks, inspections, and maintenance procedures based on the design, manufacturers requirements, applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards to adequately mitigate any hazards and risks that have been identified.
  • Manage and partner with 3rd party contractors to help fulfill responsibilities.
  • Establish and follow a framework for identifying and recording the completion of all vital documentation, including drawings, manuals, and procedures, training, and certifications to permit and ensure the safe use of the systems by cast members and guests.
  • Survey and review the consistency, accuracy, and completeness of documents, procedures, and training prior to commissioning and while in-use, communicating and addressing any discrepancies for corrective purposes.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with Project Team, Operations, Engineering Services, Safety, and regulators (AHJ).
  • Prioritize, balance, and lead numerous projects.
  • Provide field engineering support, including technical recommendations for inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • Perform investigations including root cause and failure analysis.
