JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO)!
The Chief Operating Officer manages hospital operations, including the control, utilization, and conservation of the physical and financial assets of the hospital.
Manages employees through subordinates, usually other managers. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources, and assesses policies for direct subordinates.
Initiates organization-wide policies and procedures to facilitate the kind and type of organization needed to accomplish the hospital's goals, objectives, and services.
Develops and manages the budget for the hospital in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, allocates funds within the budget, and ensures the hospital operates within the budget.
Establishes clear lines of responsibility and accountability within departments / services and between departments, service managers, and administrative staff.
Assures Hospital Accreditation by JACHO and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including licensure, fire / safety / health inspections, OSHA, and ADA regulations.
Provides liaison among the board of directors, staff, and hospital programs through direct reports to the chairman.
Job Responsibilities and Duties :
- Responsible for the day-to-day functions of the hospital.
- Participates in planning and creating the hospital's strategic, operational, service design, and other organizational plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the hospital.
- Develops, designs, and provides for a written scope of services, departmental policies, and procedures that guide and support the provision and integration of services according to the mission and vision of the hospital.
- Labor and workforce planning. Controls labor expenses for dollars and hours on a PPD basis. Recommends and determines the sufficient number of staff to provide services and defines each person's qualifications, performance expectations, and competence.
- Evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and report these results to the CEO.
- Ensures that all organization activities and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, Joint Commission and CMS standards, and laws governing healthcare operations.
- Maintains communication with the medical staff; attends medical staff committee meetings, including the Medical Executive Committee.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information to protect patient and employee rights.
Your Experience Matters What we're looking for :
- Education : Masters Degree in Health or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Experience : A minimum of 8 years of progressive healthcare / business experience and the previous 2-3 years in healthcare management.
- Additional Requirements : A thorough knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA regulations, and state and federal regulatory standards.
- Skills : Leadership, management, communication / written & verbal, budgeting, organization, marketing, and community relations.
