The hourly rate for this position is $26.00.
Under supervision, the Utility Engineer performs semi-skilled work in maintaining and repairing building-related fixtures.
Incumbents of this class perform semi-skilled work involving minor repair and maintenance of building systems, including plumbing, electrical fixtures, carpentry, door and window hardware, painting, and cleaning responsibilities.
General maintenance repairs to hotel and trouble calls. Public area and guest room preventative maintenance. Basic troubleshooting skills required (electricity, plumbing, etc.).
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Assembles and repairs furniture and fixtures.
- Performs minor carpentry.
- Removes and installs window glass.
- Prepares and paints surfaces.
- Applies finishing to various surfaces.
- Performs minor emergency repairs / adjustments to mechanical equipment such as replacing broken pipes, cleaning plugged drains, filters, and replacing faucets, washers, and gaskets.
- Addresses minor electrical problems and reports findings to supervisor.
- Assists the Stationary Engineer in performing maintenance work as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

- Work efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to work different shifts, day, swing, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Respond to emergency callbacks on matters affecting maintenance and safety.
- Perform a wide variety of building maintenance tasks.
- Follow recommended procedures and techniques to safely perform duties.
