As a Sourcing Manager specializing in Electronics for the Medical Device Industry, your role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of electronic components and systems essential for the manufacturing and operation of medical devices.
You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end sourcing process, from supplier selection and contract negotiation to supplier relationship management and risk mitigation.
Your expertise in electronics sourcing, knowledge of industry regulations, and commitment to quality assurance will contribute to the success of the company's medical device products.
Key Responsibilities :
Supplier Selection and Management :
Identifying and qualifying suppliers of electronic components, subsystems, and assemblies.Evaluating supplier capabilities, capacity, quality systems, and financial stability.
Negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive advantage and mitigate risks.Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with key suppliers to drive innovation, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
Strategic Sourcing :
Developing and executing sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics.
Conducting market research and supplier assessments to identify emerging technologies, trends, and opportunities for optimization.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to drive product innovation and supply chain resilience.
Cost Management :
Analyzing total cost of ownership (TCO) for electronic components and systems, including material costs, transportation, and inventory carrying costs.
Implementing cost reduction strategies such as supplier consolidation, value engineering, and negotiation of favorable pricing agreements.
Monitoring and controlling procurement costs to achieve budgetary targets while maintaining product quality and compliance.
Quality Assurance and Compliance :
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as ISO standards, FDA regulations, and industry-specific certifications IEC 60601 for medical electrical equipment).
Establishing and maintaining quality assurance processes for electronic component qualification, incoming inspection, and supplier performance monitoring.
Conducting supplier audits and quality reviews to verify adherence to quality standards and specifications.
Risk Management :
Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks related to electronic component shortages, supplier disruptions, geopolitical factors, and quality issues.
Developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions on production schedules and product availability.
Monitoring geopolitical and economic trends that may affect supplier stability, pricing, or lead times, and proactively implementing risk mitigation measures.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation, preferably in the medical device or electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, manufacturing processes, and industry standards / regulations.
