Wage band range $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
Starting pay is typically around $19.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
Full time night shift roles are eligible for a night shift pay differential. This position does offer future growth opportunities.
Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in Camarillo, Casa Pacifica’s 25-acre Camino a Casa’s beautiful rural setting is four miles from the Pacific Ocean and midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
As a primary youth worker (Awake Overnight Youth Development Specialist) you will provide care and supervision for youth in our residential care.
In this role you are trained to provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth and skills to intervene as necessary to assist the youth in stabilizing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Functions as a primary counselor, i.e., mentor, parent figure, and advocate for assigned cottage youths.
- Engages the youth in therapeutic activities, recreation, meal preparation, and chores.
- Assist with stabilization skills for youth that include individualized intervention, safety planning, behavioral interventions, and coping skills.
- Supervises, protects and cares for the youth in assigned cottage.
- Administers discipline and sets limits for behavior.
- Notates the youth’s progress; identifies the possible need for support and communicates such findings to professional staff.
- Communicates critical information about cottage youths. Communicates daily with members of the treatment team about the youth’s progress.
- Coordinates a variety of activities for residents, including recreation, meal preparation, chores, hobbies, etc.
- Intervene with the youth behavior modification programs as needed. This includes physical management of youth as necessary, trained in and may participate in SAFE-approved de-escalation of youth, as necessary.
- Attends and participates in trauma-informed and direct care training programs.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in the resident's living area.
