General Surgery Hernia Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Physician

CHI Health Clinic and Creighton University are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon join our collegial academic team at CHI Health in Omaha, Nebraska!

Our Department of Surgery is a high volume magnet program that draws referrals from the entire Midwest and complex nationwide referrals.

Candidates will be working in an academic and teaching environment educating Creighton University’s surgical residents and medical students and conducting research in collaboration with scientists within Common Spirit and Creighton University School of Medicine.

Hernia center is part of AHRQ and candidate has the opportunity to be involved in basic and clinical research. Candidates Reporting to the Creighton Chair of Surgery.

Also, candidates are expected to qualify for an academic appointment within Creighton University School of Medicine and commit to its teaching and scholarly mission.

Candidates are expected to be MIS Fellowship trained with a focus on advanced complex abdominal wall hernias with both laparoscopic and robotic approaches.

Candidates will join a group of 14 surgeons covering Four Hospitals. This position would only work at one hospital however takes call for two Hospitals 20 minutes apart

• General Surgery Call : 1 weekday per week and 1 weekend per month
• Ability to perform (approx. 20%) general surgery cases
• DaVinci Xi robot surgical system

Responsibilities

• Patient Care :
• Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
• Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.
• Communication :
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Provide clear and concise medical information.
• Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare.
• Documentation :
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
• Diagnostic Procedures :
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging.
• Perform procedures as needed
• Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation.
• Team Collaboration :
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
• Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers.

Compensation Information :

$224.52 / Hourly - $224.52 / Hourly
