JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Classroom Assistant

Reports to : Head of School

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : (The general summary states the general nature, level and purpose of the job). Provide support to the staff leader that is assigned.

Duties include general clerical, classroom support and project based work. Project a professional image while servicing students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (Include duties and / or responsibilities and why job exist)

  • Collaborate with the Classroom Leader to manage and facilitate tasks including assisting students, managing expectations, and providing supervision.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
  • Work with the Classroom Leader to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
  • Comply with state, school and class rules and regulations.
  • Attend all training, classes, parent conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Assist with maintaining relationships between parents and school staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.. Ability to write simple correspondence in English.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
