Role description :
Arcadis is seeking an Emergency Management Intern in Dallas, TX or New York, NY to work as part of the national Enterprise Resilience Management and Emergency Preparedness teams to plan and deliver enterprise resilience, emergency preparedness, and risk management solutions for our clients.
Role accountabilities :
The Emergency Management Intern will play a vital role in supporting staff to identify client needs and provide effective solutions.
They will collaborate with teams to develop compelling proposals and assist in delivering successful presentations. In the realm of Resilience, Infrastructure, Water, Environment, or Transportation Sectors, the intern will participate in project and client management activities.
From conception to completion, they will be involved in creating small to large enterprise resilience projects, which includes conducting risk assessments, preparing emergency plans, organizing training sessions, overseeing exercises, and compiling after-action reports.
Additionally, the intern will provide technical support to a team of seasoned resilience professionals and experts, ensuring the smooth execution of projects.
They will be responsible for reviewing and supporting the work of both junior and senior staff members. Organization and management of program files and templates will also fall under their purview.
Research tasks, encompassing regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and emerging trends, will be carried out to inform decision-making processes within the company.
The intern will be expected to undertake any other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Qualifications & Experience :
Required Qualifications
- Currently in pursuit of or recent graduate of Bachelors degree in Emergency Management, Disaster Science, Environmental Engineering / Science, Security, and / or related field.
- Understanding of basic concepts of vulnerability or risk and resilience assessments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations, and written report preparation.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ncident Command System trained.
- FEMA / DHS Training courses.
- Experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI).
- Knowledge of or experience with supporting emergency response operations or planning efforts.
- Understanding of emergency preparedness concepts including the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the preparedness cycle, and FEMA guidance documents.
