About this Position
The Golf Maintenance Helper will perform manual labor to complete semi-skilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. Work involves the responsibility for performing heavy manual labor, general construction, and related servicing tasks in the field of golf course maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, construction, and operation of the Kickingbird Golf Club.
Responsibilities
Perform various grounds maintenance tasks utilizing vehicles, mowing equipment, and standard tools
Maintain tools and equipment, including servicing equipment with fuel, oil, water, and grease
Mow grass, water greens, and work with plants, shrubbery, flowers, and trees
Operate and maintain power and hand tools
Learn the operation of a clutch type (gear shift) transmission
Build, paint, and repair golf course equipment, fences, and buildings
Remove weeds, trash, snow, and other debris from the golf course, sidewalks, streets, and other public areas
Comply with safety rules and regulations set by the City of Edmond
Be available for duty at Kickingbird Golf Club during hours established by Superintendent
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Some related experience and / or training with golf course maintenance
- Certification for spraying insecticides, herbicides, and other toxic materials (may be required as needed)
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Necessary Skills
Experience operating and maintaining mowing machines, light trucks, tractors, hand and power tools, and related maintenance equipment
Experience exercising judgment, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with the public, other agencies, and all other City department personnel
Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and equipment
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to set a good example and exercise initiative and good judgment to complete responsibilities
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug test
